The Raeford Presbyterian Church music program offers a variety
of opportunities to "make a joyful noise" as we offer
our time and talents in Christian service! We currently have three
vocal choirs and two handbell choirs.
The Sanctuary Choir is for adults college age and up who
are interested in singing sacred choral music of various styles.
We sing for the 11:00 a.m. service on Sundays and for several special
seasonal services and programs, including a Christmas concert, special
Easter music, and good old-fashioned ice cream social in the summer.
Music reading is not required; just come and enjoy the good music
and fellowship on Wednesday nights.
The Youth Choir consists of interested youth in Middle School
and High School. We sing for several services throughout the year,
including Christmas musical and a spring program for our annual
Dinner Theatre, which serves as a youth fundraiser.
Our Children's Choir is for all interested children in grades
Kindergarten through 5. We rehearse on Wednesday afternoons and
sing for several Sunday morning worship services throughout the
year. We present a Christmas musical and spring musical each year.
The Ladies' Handbell Choir is for any interested adults - it doesn't
have to remain just a "ladies" choir, if any men are interested! We
rehearse on Wednesday evenings and play for several morning worship services throughout
the year from September through April. Some music-reading ability is preferred,
but NOT required.
The Youth Handbell Choir is for interested Middle School
and High School ringers. We rehearse on Sunday evenings and play
for several services throughout the year. We also attend a Handbell
Festival in the fall or spring of the year.
We
also have a male quartet, The Big Brick Quartet which consists
of Steve Phillips, tenor, William Davis, lead,
Bobby McBryde, baratone,
Julian Johnson, bass, Miriam McNeill, accompanist, who
sing on occasion for morning worship or other church events. This
coming year, we plan to feature an eight member vocal ensemble
who
will present special music throughout the year. There are also
opportunities for soloists to perform and we host guest performers
throughout
the church year.
The Music Staff consists of Miriam Ropp McNeill, Director of Music; Nancy R.
McNeill, Organist; and Harriett McDonald, Children's Choir accompanist.
