Sweets For Your Sweetheart
The Capital Campaign Committee would like to thank everyone who participated in the fundraiser during the Annual Men of the Church Ladies Night held on February 16th. A crowd of over 100 people gathered in John Ropp Hall for a steak dinner and performance by the "Big Brick Quartet." Approximately thirty members baked their specialty desserts to auction off during the evening. There were cakes, pies, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, brownies, and fudge.... Everyone in attendance had the opportunity to place a bid on the items they wished to take home for their sweetheart. The auction raised $2,050.00 for the building fund.
OTHER WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE BUILDING FUND
Gifts of Cash: Gifts of cash may be fully deductible, as a charitable contribution is you itemize your tax return. The Church will accept gifts of cash made weekly, monthly, or annually, over any part of the 3 year period. You may prepay at any time that it is to your tax advantage.
Gifts of Stock: If you own stock that has increased in value over a long term (more than one year), it is often more tax-wise to donate the stock, rather than sell it to give cash. A gift of appreciated stock may allow the donor a charitable tax deduction for the fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift and you avoid paying capital gains on the increased value of the stock. This may allow the donor to give a larger gift than might otherwise be possible.
Gifts of Real Estate: A residence, vacation home, farm, acreage, or lot may have appreciated in value so that its sale would mean a sizable capital gains tax. By making a gift of the property, one would avoid the capital gains tax, and possible received a charitable tax deduction for the fair market value of the property.
Gifts of Life Insurance: A gift of a policy that you no longer need can provide a charitable tax deduction also. The church must be designated as both the owner and beneficiary of the policy. Your agent can help you arrange the gift.
Gifts through Trusts: These can be advantageous to the donor and the Church. Because gifts through trusts often involve the special needs of the donor, The Campaign Committee will be pleased to discuss these gifts with your representative.
