In the space between…

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I just returned from a brief visit to Reynosa, Mexico with a team of nine from our church. What a celebration of God’s presence as we celebrated 25 years of Faith Ministry in the area across the border from McAllen, TX.

I was most touched by a young Mexican girl, appeared to be about seven years old. As we concluded the gathering in Reynosa, I watched the little girl and a woman from US embrace for what must have been several minutes. They said nothing. Their tears said it all! The woman crouched down to the little girls level, the embrace, the tears, the arms wrapped around each other’s necks, the heads resting on each others necks. And, in between the two, the clear presence of Christ, of God’s love, if one would care to see.

Walking across the border, across the bridge spanning the Rio Grande River, where it was possible there were hands thrust through the fencing, screams of “Hey! Hey! Hey!” God is crying out to us all and saying, “Hey! Hey! Hey!” My hands have reached out from heaven to embrace yours, to lead yours, to empower yours to reach out to other hands that need presence, even more than words!

In the space between two or more gathered in Jesus name is a special presence of love, light and life. But Hey, maybe you already knew that.
